Private View Wednesday 12th September
5pm – 8pm
Chelsea Library First Floor, Chelsea Old Town Hall, London, King’s Road, SW3 5EZ

Playful Inversions is an illustrated compendium of creative collaboration. It’s a new take on the idea of illustrated fiction, where the illustrations are made first, and the stories are then crafted around them. It’s also an experiment, a way of stretching, stressing, bending and reshaping how collaboration in a creative endeavor works. The book will also contain behind the scenes extras such as sketches, interviews with writers, other scrapbook musings from the process and maybe a photo of him as well, you lucky scamps.

6:30pm – 7:30pm
Brompton Library, 210 Old Brompton Road, SW5 0BS

For the next session, MONDAY 10th September (6:30pm), we will be discussing Alan Moore’s intellectual re-working of the horror classic that is SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING (volume 1): Before WATCHMEN, Alan Moore made his debut in the U.S. comic book industry with the revitalization of the horror comic book THE SWAMP THING. His deconstruction of the classic monster stretched the creative boundaries of the medium and became one of the most spectacular series in comic book history. With modern-day issues explored against a backdrop of horror, SWAMP THING’s stories became commentaries on environmental, political and social issues, unflinching in their relevance.
